This airport is very small in area but gets the job done. Passengers can avail ILP from here and can also enjoy the beauty of this place from outside. Located in the capital region, the security isn't that tight as you might expect. The construction was very recently completed and the airport started to function from 2022. Taxi services are available just outside.

Nice new airport. Few food outlets. Greenfield airport. You can park your vehicles overnight.

I recently had the opportunity to travel via Donyi Polo Airport (Hollongi Airport), Itanagar, and I must say it was a pleasant and hassle-free experience. As Arunachal Pradesh’s first greenfield airport, this modern infrastructure is a game-changer for the region, improving connectivity and making travel easier for both locals and tourists. Infrastructure & Facilities The airport is beautifully designed with a modern yet culturally rich ambiance. The terminal is clean, spacious, and well-organized, capable of handling a good number of passengers without feeling crowded. Despite being a relatively new airport, it has all essential facilities, including: ✔️ Comfortable waiting lounges ✔️ Adequate check-in counters for quick processing ✔️ Well-maintained washrooms and seating areas ✔️ Parking space for private vehicles ✔️ Smooth security checks and friendly staff The runway is long enough to accommodate larger aircraft, making future expansions possible. The overall design blends modern aviation standards with Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural essence, which is a lovely touch. Flight Connectivity & Convenience Currently, the airport has direct flights operated by IndiGo to cities like Kolkata and Mumbai, with hopes for more destinations in the future. Flight operations are punctual, and the experience is smooth from check-in to boarding. Given that Arunachal Pradesh previously relied on distant airports for air travel, this airport is a massive relief for travelers. Cultural Significance The name “Donyi Polo” reflects the indigenous traditions of Arunachal Pradesh, where “Donyi” means Sun and “Polo” means Moon. This not only showcases local heritage but also gives the airport a unique identity. Accessibility & Transportation The airport is well-connected via National Highway 415, with a smooth four-lane road leading directly to Itanagar (about 25 km away). Local taxis are available for transportation, making commuting easy and comfortable. Final Verdict Donyi Polo Airport is a much-needed addition to Arunachal Pradesh’s infrastructure, offering modern amenities, smooth operations, and a great travel experience. It enhances regional connectivity, boosts tourism, and makes air travel more accessible for the people of the state.

Itanagar Airport truly stands out as a gateway to Arunachal Pradesh and north Assam offering a seamless and welcoming entry to this beautiful region. From the moment I approach the airport, the scenic beauty that surrounds it is absolutely breathtaking, giving a preview of the natural splendor that awaits. The airport itself is efficiently designed, with a clean and modern terminal that ensures a comfortable experience for travelers. Despite its smaller size compared to major airports, Itanagar Airport impresses with its orderly operations and the warmth of the staff. The check-in process is smooth, and the security procedures are thorough yet swift, ensuring peace of mind. The waiting area is pleasantly equipped with seating that overlooks the runway, providing a calming view as you await your flight. Facilities such as snack bars offer a taste of local flavors, adding to the overall experience. Accessibility is commendable, with clear signage and helpful staff guiding you through the terminal. Although it's a newer addition to the region's infrastructure, Itanagar Airport plays a pivotal role in connecting Arunachal Pradesh with the rest of India and beyond, making travel to this enchanting part of the country more accessible than ever. A visit here is not just about the journey but also an introduction to the hospitality and beauty of the Northeast.

It's good to have an Airport in our capital. Before, we used to have to go to Guwahati for a flight. This has made it so much easier for the folks of Arunachal Pradesh. The road leading to the Airport is also in good condition, and there are lots of dhabas available if you would like to have food in between. The airport is clean and less crowded as of now.
